I remember a time in my life of when I walked into a workshop, on crutches with a broken ankle, my health wasn’t the best. I was overwhelmed and stressed with life and wondering why I couldn’t work out how to fit it in all. Once I left that workshop, I had a strong desire to make a change, I didn’t know how yet but I knew there was a path I had never seen before.
From personal experience I would have to say all the following factors explained by the late Jim Rohan have moved me in one way or another to learn, change, grow and become a different person at different times. Let’s look at each one in turn.
1. DISGUST.
Disgust is a negative emotion but can have a very powerful positive effect. This occurs when you may hear yourself say, “I’ve had it” or “enough is enough”. It can be a memorable day when you say you have had enough and no more!
2. DECISION MAKING.
The day you bring yourself to decide. I personally make decisions fast! What an inspiring day when you go home and clean up a list of decisions that you have been hanging on to for a while.
3. DESIRE.
Sometimes desire waits for a trigger. Something to happen; its happened when I have watched a movie, moved by the words in a song, attended a webinar/conference, read a certain book, had an experience or a real conversation with a friend/coach. Whatever the experience it is so valuable, welcome it and let it teach you.
4. RESOLVE.
Two powerful words… “I WILL”. Benjamin Disraeli said, “nothing can resist the human will, that will stake even its existence on its stated purpose.” In other words, I will do it or die. Resolve is built on promising yourself you will never give up. I love the learnings that come when you ask some-one, “how long would you give a young child to learn how to walk?” Most probably the answer will be until they do. Don’t give up and never miss an opportunity to grow.
Which of these can you relate to the most?
